Good to know before you refer
In the heartbeat ❤️ survey, we ask if you recommend someone to work for us. Here is how you can make that happen.
Since you are on this page you hopefully have someone in mind that could be a great fit for our team. Before we get to the fun stuff there are some things you need to know before you make a referral:
The employee’s role will be limited to the submission of the resume of the candidate. The employee making the referral will not, in any way, be involved with the candidate's shortlisting, interview or salary fixation.
Recruitment process 🙋🏾♀️
Referred candidates will undergo the same recruitment process as any other applicants. From a diversity and fairness perspective, it's important to give all candidates the same opportunity. Have you worked with the person before? Then, it is an extra decision point as you have seen a “work-life sample”, which is a high predictor for future performance.
Referral reward 💰
Local adoptions may occur when you are eligible for the bonus and what the amount is – please check with your local HR or someone from the Talent Acquisition team.

Exclusions
❎ If the candidate is already in the recruitment process via direct application or an agency, you will not be eligible for a referral bonus.
❎ These roles are excluded from the policy, as a critical responsibility of their role is to grow the business
- People and recruitment teams
- All directors equivalent business leaders
- Contractors
- Anyone involved in the hiring process for the position the person has been referred for

Guidance
✅ Talk to the person about Columbus to secure their interest before making a referral
✅ Please refer candidates to the recruitment team directly with a suggestion of role fit
✅ You should do the referral via your local career site
✅ If more than one employee submits the same candidate, you will be asked to split the referral bonus
✅ The referral bonus is paid after the successful completion of the probationary period (after 3 or 6 months) if the referred candidate is still employed
