Hello! 👋 Are you newly graduated, or have some work experience in your luggage but looking for a new exciting opportunity? Does a career as a consultant within ERP and Cloud platforms sound tempting to you? Then you've come to the right place.

First things first – Tell us more about the program! What was included - what was the best?

The most fun part so far has been getting involved in customer projects early on, applying the tools I’ve learned to real-life cases. I was also pleasantly surprised by how much effort my mentors and program manager put into ensuring I had opportunities to focus on what I found most fun and rewarding, which in my case was to gain hands-on experience. Having two mentors—one with deep technical expertise and one focused on client relationships—has given me a strong kick-start in multiple projects, which has been invaluable in shaping my consultancy skills.

The duration of the program was over a year and included extensive training with a major focus on M3. During the first phase, we underwent basic training achieve an associate level certification. After that, we deepened our knowledge in specific areas. In addition to learning about the system, courses related to the consultant role and its meaning were also included. Throughout the program we were provided with continuous guidance by a mentor, which allowed us to be gradually introduced to projects.

Firstly, we received an introduction to the basics of the ERP system, including functionalities, navigation, and various processes. We also had the opportunity to choose a focus area in the ERP system, and I chose to specialize in procurement. The program was very comprehensive, also including an introduction to the role of a consultant and training in presentation techniques and consultmanship. In addition to technical training and an overview of the consultant's role, there were numerous team-building activities. The focus was not only on learning but also on getting to know our colleagues.

The program is broad and starts with an introductory training in M3, where you learn the basics of all business processes. In our case, we started with a specific industry in which we got certified. After that, we got to choose a focus area in which we also completed certifications. Many M3 customers also use Infor OS, which includes a number of applications. Therefore, we also had introductions to these applications continuously during the program.

Any advice to our future Accelerators?
"I think it's important to try to apply what we learn about M3 in real situations and try to understand how companies use the system and what they need. It helps us to learn the system better and it becomes useful when we work in projects. Furthermore, it is important to overcome the fear of asking questions when something is unclear, everyone is new and it is usually more appreciated when someone dares to ask questions than the other way around." - Matilda
"During the time studying for certifications I recommend taking help from colleagues, and dare asking for difficult parts to be further explained. It helps a lot!" - Jonah
"My foremost advice is to dare to communicate with colleagues who are going through the same thing. If you have any questions or if you are unsure, ask your colleagues who are also attending the program. It's likely that all of you are wondering the exact same thing. I found this particularly crucial for me, given that I am located in a smaller office and did not have another Accelerator physically by my side." - Julia
What was the best part about the program?
"Among the best things about the program was being able to start with several other trainees at the same time. We were a group from Sweden, Norway and Denmark who got along very well and were able to support each other throughout the course of the program during training and before the certification exam. On four occasions we were seen on site for a whole week and on one of the occasions we got to work on a case which was very rewarding. Having a mentor by my side was also valuable." - Matilda
"The best thing about the program is that you get to learn a lot about M3, which you benefit from when working with customers. I also liked that you start the program together with other accelerators, which enables you to help each other and work together from the start." - Jonah
"During the program, we had four occasions where we met up with all the Accelerators. On one of these occasions, we were divided into groups and given a case to work on together. The groups were structured in a way that allowed us to collaborate with colleagues having various specializations in the ERP system. Working on that task, it really felt like we were working on a real customer project, which was a very educational experience." - Julia
Fast forward - what happened after the program?
Julia was one of our Accelerators from 2022 to 2023. During the program she was introduced to Infor M3 and chose to specialize in procurement. However, that's not what she is working with today.
"A colleague of mine specialises in and is an expert at usability & development within the Infor OS platform. During an office meeting, he asked me to join a project and help out with tasks. That's how I initially got into Infor OS and experienced the thrilling aspects of usability. You could say this colleague of mine took me under his wings, introduced me to Infor OS, and the areas I'm working on today. I had no idea this was something you could work with, but it immediately caught my interest, and I thought it was really exciting.”
Today, Julia is a Developer within the Infor OS Platform, focusing on usability, writing scripts, APIs, and experience design.
Meet Wilma...
...who attended our M3 Accelerator Program between 2022-2023. Before Columbus, she was a logistics coordinator and had some experience within M3. During the program she got introduced to the consultancy role and became even more familiar with the ERP-system. Just a couple months in, she got involved in a global customer project. In this blog posts, she shares her experience of the program, and how she went from Associate Business Consultant to trusted advisor at a global client in less than a year.
