How did you end up in the program?
Julia: "I actually applied to another role as Project Manager within E-commerce. I knew they wanted someone with more experience, but I thought: Let's give it a try anyway! Then I got a call from the recruiter that said they need someone with more experience, but that Columbus had a Accelerator program within Digital Commerce that my profile matched. My interest was sparked when I got to learn more about the program, and I felt that it was a good match for me as well.
Rebecca: I just graduated from university and was looking for jobs. Most jobs needed several years of experience, but then I found a job ad on LinkedIn about Columbus' Accelerator program and thought it would be a great gateway into the E-commerce industry.
What was included in the program?
Julia: In the beginning, there were a lot of physical meet-ups and we traveled to different offices. It was great to make connections with colleagues. At first, we got to learn about Columbus and what we can offer our customers - not only within E-commerce. After that, we started to get into more specific areas within E-commerce. The program was both theoretical and practical. The first months focused on theory- and we moved slowly into more practical tasks when we started to work on projects.
Rebecca: It started with getting to know Columbus and E-commerce and how do we work on projects. In the second half of the program, we got to shadow another colleague to see how things work. We got to see what responsibilities that were connected to the role. We went to meetings and we started to get tasks - such as requirements and how to get reports for invoicing. Small but very important tasks that you need to know. Gradually, we got more responsibility. We also had cases that we worked on and presented during the program.

What are the benefits with a Accelerator program?
Julia: The networking is really great. Columbus is big - and you get a good understanding of the whole company and what we do. You wouldn't get that in a "usual" onboarding. It's also great that we are many new employees at the same time - we are new together.
Rebecca: The biggest benefit is that the program is like a long and extensive onboarding, and you meet a lot of people. You get to know who people are and what they do - so it's easy to reach out when you need help. And as Julia mentioned - we are new together and can support each other.
What are your advice for this years Accelerators?
Rebecca: Dare. Allow yourself to "take place". Being a consultant here means that you need to make your presence known to be a part of what's going on. People are often very busy with their projects and you need to show that you want to be a part of that. Everyone really wants to teach and show you what they do. People want to help you and they enjoy having new colleagues. And you don't need to know everything from day one. 😊
Julia: Utilize that you are new. You can ask anything and learn anything. Absorb all the knowledge around you. But be aware that we work in complex projects and Columbus is a big company. You won't know everything from the start - it will take time to learn and you need to have patience.
What do you like about your role and working at Columbus?
-
The flexibility - and I really like to dive deep into problem-solving - finding the real need and seeing the solution become reality. There is a lot of freedom in choosing what way you want to develop. For me. learning more about UX. But most of all we have a really great culture here, the engagement is high and we do fun stuff together!

The role has so much variation - each project is unique. It comes with a lot of freedom and you have one leg in technology and one in dialogue with the customer/the business. You communicate with everyone involved in the project. We have a such great atmosphere at Columbus and we have a lot of freedom with responsibility. There is good transparency and management and there is a lot of trust. And of course, we have a lot of fun 😄
Elin Business Consultant
Why should you apply?
Julia: It's a unique opportunity. Other trainee programs are really long - this is an intensive six months where you will accelerate your learning and you are here to be a consultant and not only as a trainee. I've been positively surprised (not that I thought something else) by the culture here. It's very welcoming and everyone is so helpful. The team spirit is really strong.
Rebecca: The networking is really important - not only for us but also for others, who can see what we do and can ask us for help. You get a really good introduction, not just to Columbus but also to customers and the E-commerce industry in general. And people are very inclusive at Columbus and I can really feel that they are happy having me here.
