Columbus Recruitment Process
Get to know the different stages of our process
Our Recruitment Process 🪜
-
1. Reviewing your application
The recruiter (not a 🤖), in dialogue with the manager, will review your application and, if it is of interest, will schedule a screening interview. All candidates will receive feedback, and we work hard to provide personalized feedback within 2-3 weeks (preferably sooner).
However, sometimes it may take longer if managers are involved in several projects simultaneously in addition to recruitment.
-
2. Phone/Teams interview with a TA-partner & ALVA-test
Someone from our in-house TA team will have the first talk with you! As part of our process, we use ALVA-labs, a logic and personality test. Depending on the role, the test will be sent out either before the phone interview or later in the process.
-
3. Teams call or psychical interview
After the initial stages, you will have an interview with the recruiting manager and a team member. Depending on logistics and location, we conduct both remote interviews via Microsoft Teams and in-person interviews.
-
4. References & background check
As part of our recruitment process, we conduct reference checks and background checks to ensure a thorough evaluation of all candidates.
-
5. Different scenarios of outcome
A) Congratulations on your new job! 🎉
B) If you didn't go all the way: ☹️
As an employer, we have our needs and expectations, just as you do. Sometimes these don't align, or we may not have a suitable role at the moment. However, we value ongoing dialogue in case a new opportunity arises.
-
6. Welcome!
We will stay in contact with you until your first day with us and prepare for your onboarding.
We focus on concrete examples
We will ask competency-based questions during our process, where we want you to provide concrete examples from your previous work experience. For example, we might ask: "Tell me about a time when you had to adjust to a colleague’s working style to complete a project or achieve your objectives." This question focuses on collaboration, which is one of our core skills (and values).
Preparing for the Recruitment Process
-
Research the Company
Learn about the company's mission, values and culture. This will help you know what questions to ask and show genuine interest.
-
Review the Job Description
Understand the key responsibilities and required skills. Be ready to discuss how your experience and skills align with the role.
-
Relax and Stay Positive
Ensure you get enough rest before the interview and approach it with a positive mindset. It's okay to let the interviewer know if you are nervous!
Measuring your experience
After finishing the recruitment process with us you will receive a short survey on questions related to our recruitment process. This is vital information for us to improve and to make sure we are following our D&I strategy.
Hope you are willing to spend a bit of time to give us this feedback. 😊
